| Programs>>Cross-Cultural Cooperation
When TAEQ was first founded, all the participants in its educational programs were Arab. Today, over a dozen Jewish schools from northern Israel participate regularly in TAEQ activities – a spirit of cooperation that has persisted even during periods of political tension. TAEQ’s consulting services and professional training courses are used by approximately equal numbers of Arabs and Jews.
TAEQ occupies a unique niche in Jewish-Arab relations. It promotes constructive dialog between Israelis and Palestinians, based on their common interest in sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
The Partnership for Peace Programs
In 2007, TAEQ, in cooperation with the Centre for Environmental Diplomacy (CED), received funding from the EU Partnership for Peace program to implement a three-year project linking groups of Israeli and Palestinian professionals working in the areas of wastewater treatment, treatment of solid waste and recycling, organic agriculture, ecological tourism, environmental education and hazardous waste treatment. These integrated science-based meetings and working groups constitute a model for constructive dialog and cooperation.
